BT Daemon

BT Daemon is a BitTorrent client designed to be run as a daemon with a web-based interface. It is written in Python and extends the reference client.

Planned features

I want to do a lot with btdaemon, but for now it does what I need it to perfectly well. The following list is more of a wishlist than things that will happen. Some may eventually happen, but don't count on it. If you need anything on this list, there are plenty of other BT clients out there that will do what you need. Frankly it's not even close to being a high priority for me.

• Ability to change configuration options without needing a restart
• Email on completion
• Accept URL/file for addition via email
• Auto-remove/pause after a certain ratio is reached
• Integration with RSS feeds
• Ability to prioritise torrents
• Statistics history - data in/out, torrent count, overall ratio, ratio per tracker, etc

Known problems

• The screen update sometimes gets stuck and requires a page refresh to get it going again

Version numbers indicate the version of the standard BitTorrent client it is based on. Be sure to read the README file for installation details and other important information.

BTDaemon requires Python 2.4 or greater and has been extensively tested on FreeBSD only. If you are using it on a different platform please email me your experience.
