Hi Applemad, thanks for the comment.

To get it to work simply call the static Start method...

Session::Start('localhost', 'root', '', 'sessionstore', 'sessions', 0);

Change the arguments as needed - check the source for what each one is. This needs to be called in place of session_start(), i.e. before any output. Do not call session_start() in your own code if you're using this class.

Love the look of your script but I can't actually get it to work, it sounds like exactly what I'm looking for too!

Any chance you can include a little bit of code showing how to instantiate it into my own PHP scripts as everything I try is throwing out errors.

Cheers

Thanks Chris. I have a subscription monitoring system in development but unfortunately I've not found much time to work on it recently.

If you need something like that there are lots of other options about. I use http://www.ippatrol.co.uk/ at the moment and have no complaints.

Looking quite nice Stut. You know, you could start this as a subscription service, so people could register themselves, mention their email and the site they want checked, and get an email when it is down, with the ability for stats tracking it.

You could put a little ads in the email or offer cheap paid accounts to pay for the hosting and the like...

Just a tought!

Thanks Aaron, you're quite correct. Also worth noting that array_walk_recursive is not available in PHP4.

As far as I know changing magic_quotes_gpc in code will not affect the global arrays since they've already been processed.

I think it might be useful to your readers to point out the reason why you created this function in this particular way instead of using the array_walk_recursive function. My first thought was that - but you'll notice how it won't handle keys with the contents of arrays :)

Also, one wonders - could you find a test for using ini_set() on magic quotes first?

[...] Still a few bits that need sorting layout-wise but definitely a major improvement on the old new design. [...]
